Do you think you really understand your fellow Boomers?
Doc and I just returned from the AARP “Ideas@50+” National Event in San Diego.
Overall, it has to be categorized as an amazing weekend.
Unfortunately, the AARP Event was not the highlight of our visit.
More than 14,000 Boomers and Senior Citizens were expected to attend the 3 day event but from what we saw I don’t think attendance came even close to that number.
I think the biggest draw was an armchair interview with Soledad O’Brien with actors Julia Louise-Dreyfus and Kevin Spacey.
So what were some of the highlights of the weekend?
· What I discovered about Baby Boomers
· Realizing that I am really a part of the Boomer generation
· The multitude of opportunities, products and solutions now available to help us as we age
· John Cougar Mellencamp concert
· San Diego itself – Bike riding, beaches and bountiful cuisine
We are so glad we took the time out of our crazy schedules to make this trip.
Not only did we get a firsthand look at what AARP accomplishes in helping their constituency, but we became much more aware of the Baby Boomer family that we are a part of.
I like what I saw and I am proud to be a senior citizen.
And I think I really have a new appreciation for who my fellow Baby Boomers are.
Anyway, we have a lot of catching up to do.
I’ll be touching on my highlights of the event and the weekend over the next few days.
Please join me because I think you will be very surprised to hear what I have to say.
