Most bloggers and just about every poor, lonely soul on FaceBook like to call today "Throwback Thursday" where they do an article on their past, or a past event or they post cute pictures of themselves when they were younger.
That's kind of cool, but I believe in multitasking my fun, so while this will not be officially considered "Throwback Thursday" on my blog I will touch on something today that contains the words "throw back." That's pretty close, right? More to the point, I am going to talk about football and the NFL Super Bowl.
So now you are asking yourselves: "How is that multitasking?" and "What does that have to do with Throwback Thursday?"
Look at it this way:
1. This blog is about football. Have you ever watched a football game when someone didn't utter the words "throw back?"
- Did you see Aaron Rodgers "throw" that "Hail Mary" pass 70 yards into the "back" of the end-zone?
- Carson Palmer shouldn't "throw" off his "back" foot or he will be intercepted 5 times.
- Carson Palmer can't "throw" the ball when he is on his "back" all of the time.
- If Peyton Manning can't "throw" 5 touchdown passes against Carolina in the Superbowl, they will send him "back" to the retirement home.
Am I making my point?
2. My topic is timely as well, being a few days before the Super Bowl which everyone and their cousins has written about in the last week. I just waited until the initial flush of activity to die down.
3. My goal is to teach and entertain you at the same time. That's pretty much multitasking right?
Well, my good friend Steve Haney who lives in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii sent me an email with a pictorial on cool facts about football.
He's that kind of guy.
When he sends me emails or posts things on FaceBook they are always very interesting.
We definitely need more people like him on FaceBook.
Anyway, being one of the 150 million people getting ready to watch the Superbowl on Sunday, I am definitely getting into a "football" mood. Even if you aren't a football fan, the Superbowl is guaranteed to put you in the football mood. There is so much hype and so much coverage that you can't help but jump on board the band wagon. Plus, you will need something to talk about come Monday at work, right? If this is the only game you watched all year you still need to sound football savvy. I can hear the water cooler conversations now:
"Did you see the Panther's defensive "back" Mario Addison "throw" Peyton Manning to the turf 10 times each quarter?"
So, Steve's email couldn't have come at a better time. If you're not a big enough fan to know all of the players names or the difference between a split safety and a nickle defense then the football facts in the slideshow below is just what you need to sound like a true football fan to your fiends.
I only knew 5% of them. For a true stats person that's 1 in 20 of the facts.
That's pretty scary considering I consider myself a "football" type of guy.
So I wanted to pass (yes, that's a football pun) these fun football facts forward to you my fellow Survive 55 football fans.
These are meant to entertain both the men and the women of my blogosphere.
For the men, it is always good to learn new facts about football so you can impress your other "football" buddies.
But more importantly for the women.........You need to memorize these.
Imagine how cool you will be dropping a few of these obscure facts on your husband or his friends during halftime while serving up a steaming hot bowl of Doritos con queso.
I can only envision a few jaws dropping and your credibility rating going through the roof.
So, ladies and gentlemen, check out my little slideshow and let me know what you think.
Well, have fun watching the Superbowl and don't forget this famous football quote from author, civil rights activist and poet Maya Angelou:
"I learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back."
OK, maybe it's not a football quote but it does have the words "throw" and "back" in it.....
It's easy to tell them about it.
Forward it on to them or just email them my blog link at www.survive55.com.
