We saw the band Big Country (more about the concert in tomorrow's blog) at the Tempe Center for the Arts...................wait for it.................wait for it...............FOR FREE !!!
I bet you are asking yourself "How in the heck did Jay pull that off?"
No big deal folks.
Like I talked about a lot in past blogs (check out yesterday's blog), I don't do anything without getting some sort of discount..........no restaurants, no sporting events, no concerts, no trips, no fun without saving money and I mean at least 50% off retail.
That's Right America…I demand my money's worth !!!
If you haven't checked them out already then do it today.
In fact, you hard working Survive 55 followers need to sign up to Groupon immediately, stop fooling around and start saving "BIG" money on virtually everything you do.
AND......wait for it............wait for it.........If you refer me I can earn $10 in Groupon Bucks for every friend who joins and buys a Groupon deal for an event.
It's their way of saying "thanks" for spreading the good word and increasing their collective buying power.
Then you tell others about Groupon, get them to join and you get $10 in Groupon every time your friends buy their first deal.
Before you know it we have a "worldwide" money saving "flash group" type of thing going on.
I already sent the link out on Facebook this morning or you can click this link to get started:
Sorry, I got a little excited there about saving money but I guarantee that once you jump on board and start using these programs you will get excited too.
So anyway, back to the subject at hand…….
Monday, I checked the Phoenix FillASeat website of which I am a member and saw the "FREE" tickets to see the band "Big Country" at the Tempe Center for the Arts.
If you don’t know what the "FillASeat" program you can check it out at http://www.fillaseatphoenix.com/.
When local events, shows and attractions have tickets they haven’t sold, they come to FillASeat to give them to members..........FREE !!!
With your membership you will have access to a year's worth of shows and events in the Phoenix (or whatever major metropolitan area you are reading this in and sign up in) and surrounding areas for one low price.
Duet Membership: Up to (2) two tickets to each show on our site for one year. - $80
Quartet Membership: Up to (4) four tickets to each show on our site for
one year.- $150
Whether it's for "Family Fun" or a year's worth of memorable "Date Nights", Fill A Seat is a great way to experience local music, culture and events.
And the price is pretty darn reasonable huh?
I bought this 1/2 off Groupon for FillASeat when it was offered last November and it paid for itself after the first event.
A quick internet search shows that the same Groupon is offered in Hampton Roads, Dallas, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Houston Cleveland, Las Vegas and many more cities throughout the US.
I don't normally get on a soap box to preach about a particular company but this is definitely one program worth getting on board with especially when you combine it with the 1/2 Groupon offer.
This is where FillASeat excels.
To convince you to at least take a look at this programs here's a fist full of shows that Darla and I have attended in the past 6 months to give you an idea of the amount of fun you can have without emptying your wallet:
The band broke massively worldwide with the release of the album's classic singles "Fields of Fire", "Chance" and signature song "In a Big Country", which sold more than two million copies and driving "The Crossing" to three Grammy® nominations.
Here are some of the past shows that we didn't see. When you are a member of FillASeat, you need to check the website often (virtually every day) because events are mostly added to the website a day or two before they are scheduled.
In other words, if you snooze, you lose.

Tomorrow I wanted to to let you know about the Big Country concert and then maybe touch on some of my favorite "more obscure" favorite bands from the 80's.
If you have a second, send me some of your suggestions about your favorite "not so world famous" bands from the 70's and 80's that you absolutely loved.
Thanks for joining me……………
